Ingredients

  • 2 cups semolina coarse
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup full fat yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoon ghee (clarified butter)

Syrup

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 drops lemon juice
  • 3 drops vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar and yogurt until sugar is dissolved

  2. Add semolina, baking powder, and baking soda
  3. Last, add melted clarified butter or ghee
  4. Spread tahini on bottom of pyrex and around the corners (if you don't have tahini use butter or flour)
  5. Add mixture to pyrex 9x9
  6. Let it sit for a few hours covered on side so baking powder does its job and semolina soaks up the yogurt
  7. After a few hours use a knife to make incisions
  8. Put in oven 350 30-35 minutes uncovered

Syrup

  1. While your dessert is baking, mix sugar, water, lemon, vanilla and butter over medium heat until all sugar is dissolved and you start to form a slightly thickened syrup (it will still be quite watery).
