Simple Summer Peach & Apricot Jam will keep summer alive long after it’s gone! Plus, you can make it even after peach and apricot season! Come see how…
Nadia and I are still really into our fruits of the season, peaches and apricots! We get so excited while they’re here and get so bummed to see them go. The beauty of this recipe, is that you can make it with fresh fruit or with dried fruit. You know what that means, Simple Summer Peach & Apricot Jam all year long!! Wooooohoooo!!!
Anyway, as with most of the recipes we make, it’s very simple, using only a few ingredients and not taking much time at all. If you have the fresh fruits in season, great, use them! If not, no worries, the dried ones work just as well and they both taste great! Why buy store jam when it’s this easy to make at home.
Plus, since I’m always looking for ways to be “healthier” and find more natural, less processed alternatives to my ingredients, I didn’t use white sugar as is typically done. Instead, I used coconut palm sugar. Another great option is date sugar. Both come naturally from the fruit themselves and have a lower glycemic index than white sugar…done and done!
So give this jam a try. The reason I love it so much is because we grew up eating this jam with Syrian white cheese and pita bread for breakfast or brunch all the time. It was a staple on our table. The savory sweet combo is really the best! Put it on toast, put it on a salty white cheese, put it in your baking, put it everywhere! Well, you know, not everywhere, but it’s so good! And if you’re still feeling peachy, try our Peach & Date Honey Biscuits!
This tangy sweet jam can be made with fresh or dried fruit!
- 1 cup peaches dried or fresh
- 1 cup apricot dried or fresh
- 1 1/2 cup water or enough to cover the fruits
- 1/2 cup coconut palm sugar/date sugar or any sugar
- 1 squeeze lemon juice, fresh
In a medium sauce pan, add all ingredients and bring to a boil. Lower temperature to keep it simmering until the fruits begin to fall apart and mixture thickens to a jam like consistency. Let cool and store in an airtight container.
If fresh fruits are not available, dried fruits are just as good! Use any type of sugar you would like and use 2-4 tbsp depending on how sweet you would like it.
